Hooshang's abstracts in 3 exhibits, 2 states

A Louisiana gallery and a Montana museum are showing the abstract art of Ruston resident Hooshang Khorasani – coolspace in Shreveport and Yellowstone Arts Museum in Billings, Mont. His art was also recently exhibited at Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art in Great Falls, Mont.

The coolspace exhibit is sponsored by the Shreveport Regional Arts Council and runs from Feb. 13 to March 22. "Critical Mass 2" will bring in three nationally renowned critics so that awards can be presented in visual, literary and performing arts.

It follows the "Impromptu" show three years ago when the chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts visited Shreveport to announce a major grant award. During that event the critic met with area artists, who urged that a system of formal critiques be put into place to advance professionalism in the region's arts. As a result, SRAC submitted a successful grant to the NEA to produce a two-year Critics’ Series, which "Critical Mass 2" culminates.

Hooshang's entry into the show is a 36x36-inch acrylic-mixed media painting, "Color Storm Journey."

The Yellowstone museum's 46th Art Exhibit and Auction is running from Jan. 23 through March 1 and features a set of three 20x20-inch paintings by Hooshang, "Lakeside Sunset." A live and silent auction will be held the final day of the show. Artwork ranges from cutting-edge contemporary to traditional landscape and Western. Museum officials say the auction is a premier showcase of art that draws collectors from across the country.

Another set of Hooshang's abstracts, two 12x12-inch paintings titled "Subtle Harmony," was part of the 17th annual Art Exhibition and Auction at Paris Gibson Square Museum. The show, titled "Style, Form and Color," opened Dec. 28. The auction date was Feb. 1.
