Hooshang's equine work displayed in La Jolla

Hooshang will participate at the La Jolla (Calif.) Festival of the Arts from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 26-27.

This 24th annual event welcomes guests to enjoy the work of nearly 200 of what the show organizers term "the West’s finest artists." Additionally, the show features live music, a silent auction and much more in beautiful coastal San Diego.

Hooshang will be in Booth #727 and will be showing equine paintings.

Concerning Hooshang’s running horses series, consider this excerpt from “Gallery Talk: Conversations with Lee Malerich” in a description of The Ormond (Fla.) Memorial Art Museum's exhibition of “Four-Footed”:

“… These magnificent large-scale acrylics scream 'undomesticated' as they roar, head-on across the canvas. (Hooshang’s) choice of color and kinetic, yet exacting brush strokes exacerbate the motion study. These works are so strong that at a glance one can hear the panting breath and the pounding hoofs of these exotic creatures.”

The festival is located in the La Jolla district of San Diego. It is easily accessible from I-5, I-805 and CA-52 and offers plenty of free parking. From I-5, north or south bound, exit Genesee Avenue and turn east (away from the coast). The festival is approximately one mile ahead. Additional info can be found at www.lajollaartfestival.org. Admission is $10.

'Be ready to be surprised' by Hooshang Khorasani's abstacts

"Be ready to be surprised by the abstract art of Hooshang Khorasani. They are vibrant, with beautiful textures and colors. He sent two sets of paintings. One set I have hung together to see how they interact next to each other, and the other set I have hung separately. It is always surprising to me how these paintings still interact with one another even though they are separated. The brilliant colors reach out to each other and to the observer, completing a circle of interaction."

- Excerpt from "Contemporary Artists at Andrews Art Museum," The Andrews (N.C.) Journal, May 14, 2009

One set of the paintings described is shown above, "Luminescence #2." The museum is shown below.
