Hooshang's prints help improve lives of equines

Two of Hooshang's equine prints were part of an auction connected with the Bluebonnet Horse Expo in Austin, Texas, Oct. 20, 2012.

The expo and auction were sponsored by the Bluebonnet Equine Humane Society, whose mission is to improve the lives of equines by educating and helping owners, assisting law enforcement agencies, rehabilitating abused and neglected equines, and placing them into safe, permanent homes.

Taos museum exhibits Hooshang's 'Color Storm Allegro'

A Hooshang abstract was part of an exhibit and auction at the Taos (N.M.) Art Museum in the summer of 2012.

A Gala Auction connected with the exhibit, "A Russian Night in Taos," closed out the show Aug. 25; the exhibit began in July. Hooshang was represented at the show with "Color Storm Allegro," a 36x36-inch acrylic/mixed media on canvas.

The museum site termed the annual gala "one of the most anticipated events in Northern New Mexico." Art for the exhibit was acquired by private invitation only.

Dedicated to the region's early 20th-century art and the patrons who nurtured and preserved it, the museum is housed in the Fechin House, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Russian-born Nicolai Fechin – regarded as one of the most important portrait painters of the 20th century – and his family moved to Taos in 1927. His paintings of Native Americans and of the New Mexico desert landscape are considered among his best works.

North Dakota museum features Hooshang's small abstracts

Two sets of Hooshang's paintings were part of the fifth annual Small Works Exhibit & Auction at the Taube Museum of Art in Minot, N.D. The exhibit featured a collection of works that were no larger than 80 square inches. Exhibit dates were June 19 to July 31, 2012.

Hooshang displayed sets of three 6x6-inch abstract paintings: "Deep Sunset" and "Letters for Home."

Executive Director Nancy Walter said, "I started this exhibition opportunity for artists because of my love of small art. That has not changed in ensuing years, and the public also seems to enjoy the look and feel of the exhibit as well. It also doesn’t hurt that a person can always find space to display the work because of the small size."

A portion of the proceeds from the auction will help support the museum, a non-profit organization with the motto "Enriching Lives Through the Visual Arts."

Hooshang's work featured in art magazine advertisements

Hooshang's work was featured in ads in two art magazines in February and March 2012. In February in American Art Collector magazine, an ad was placed by Xanadu Gallery in Scottsdale, Ariz., with whom Hooshang is affiliated. Hooshang's work at Attleboro (Mass.) Arts Museum

A two-painting set of Hooshang's abstract works is being shown Oct. 12 to Nov. 3 in the Attleboro (Mass.) Arts Museum.

Hooshang's paintings, "Subtle Harmony," are 12x12 inches each, acrylic-mixed media on canvas.

Closing reception set for Hooshang's show

Hooshang Khorasani's solo exhibition at Art Innovations will end one day sooner than originally planned, with a closing reception from 7-9 p.m. Sunday, April 29.

"If you want to get the florals at half-price, now is the time," gallery owner Jackie Cochran said. "Come out and enjoy the bold, energizing colors of Hooshang's work – first, in the gallery and then later in your home or office. His clients say that just looking at Hooshang's paintings brings them joy." Another plus of attending the closing reception: Customers won't have to pay sales tax. "We'll pay the tax if you buy the paintings," Cochran said.

"Spring Show" features both florals and abstracts. Hooshang is a Ruston resident who has exhibited his paintings widely throughout the country in galleries and museums. He works in mixed media and acrylic on canvas. The gallery is located at 112 W. Alabama. Currently, regular hours are noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Hooshang's solo spring show unites color in both abstracts and florals

Art Innovations gallery and Hooshang are pairing two genres in a solo exhibition that spotlights both an homage to spring and bursts of color.

"Spring Flower Show," which features florals, and "Spring Color Storm," which features abstracts, will run at the Ruston gallery from April 10-30.

Hooshang said he hopes a spring flower show – on canvas – will become an annual Ruston tradition in which other artists will also participate. According to a flier for the show, this is "a celebration that causes all bouquets on canvas to be sold at 50 percent off regular price. These flowers last much longer, and you can enjoy them for many springs to come."

The accompanying abstracts have been described by a reviewer as "surprising" and "vibrant, with beautiful textures and colors." One museum writer commented on Hooshang's "heightened imagination and wild swings of color" that are "destined to energize."

Art Innovations owner Jackie Cochran said she selected Hooshang to exhibit in her gallery because she was intrigued by the dichotomy of these two genres: "In his floral works, Hooshang uses a boldly modern style with traditional subject matter. And his abstracts, while being distinctly modern, also take a classical look at that genre. So, in effect, this is art that has something to offer for everyone."

Hooshang has exhibited his work widely throughout the country in galleries and museums. He works in mixed media and acrylic on canvas. Bentley Publishing Group has published both his florals and abstracts.

The opening reception is set for 7-9 p.m. April 10 in the gallery at 112 W. Alabama Ave., Ruston.
