Hooshang's work at The Frame-Up during Holiday Arts Tour

At Ruston's annual Holiday Arts Tour, three genres of Hooshang's work will be shown at The Frame-Up in downtown Ruston, 102 N. Vienna.  Samples of his work published by Dianoche Designs will be shown as well. 

Equine, abstract and floral originals and prints will be available Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 21-23.  This is the first time Hooshang's artwork will be available only at The Frame-Up.  Last year, his work was shown at both his own studio at 1001 Cedar Creek Road and the downtown location; in prior years, it was featured at his studio.

"This will allow us to be more of a part of the main downtown walking loop for the entire length of the tour," Hooshang said. "I hope to see many of you out and about on these three days."

Thursday's tour is part of Ruston's Open House that celebrates the start of the holiday season.

Hours for the tour are as follows:

Thursday – 5-8 p.m.

Friday – 4-8 p.m. and

Saturday – 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Sample products on hand from Dianoche Designs will include placemats and blankets, in addition to a portfolio of all of Hooshang's work that Dianoche carries.

Holiday venues, other sites are showing Hooshang's work

Holiday exhibitions, a museum auction and two new galleries are featuring Hooshang Khorasani's abstract and equine works this fall and into the future.

His abstracts and running horses are being displayed in the "Presents" exhibition at artspace in Shreveport from Nov. 8 through Jan. 18. "Presents" is a juried holiday gallery show featuring work of 13 area artists.

artspace is affiliated with the Shreveport Regional Arts Council and located in downtown Shreveport at 710 Texas St. Admission to artspace is free – Tuesday through Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday noon to 5 p.m.

At another holiday-themed event – Ruston's annual Holiday Arts Tour – Hooshang's florals will be shown, in addition to his abstracts and equines. This year for the first time, Hooshang's artwork will be available only at The Frame-Up in downtown Ruston, rather than at his personal studio. Dates that his work can be seen at this venue are Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 21-23.

In addition, a two-painting set of Hooshang's abstract works was chosen for - and sold at - the 22nd Benefit Art Auction at the Attleboro (Mass.) Arts Museum. Online bidding was Oct. 11-31 at www.biddingforgood.com/attleboroartsmuseum2013; the live event was Nov. 2. Hooshang's paintings, "Happy Twist," are 6-by-6 inches each, acrylic-mixed media on canvas.

The two new galleries with which he is affiliated are Legacy Gallery in Hot Springs, Ark., and Watershed Gallery in Ridgefield, Conn. Both abstract and equine work will be shown at Legacy, located at 804 Central Ave. Watershed Gallery is featuring Hooshang's abstract work in its Artist at Large program.

"In Flight"

Two of Hooshang's equine works will be exhibited in Massachusetts at an invitational show that is connected to the book "True Grit."

"Equine Allure" and "In Flight" will be part of the "Horse Sense" show at Attleboro (Mass.) Arts Museum from Sept. 20-28.

The exhibit complements the city of Attleboro's annual summer reading initiative, The Big Read/Attleboro's 1ABC (1 Adventure, 1 Book, 1 Community), which is funded by the National Endowment for the Arts. This year's book selection is "True Grit," a much-loved American classic with a dynamic frontier story, legendary characters and complex adventures. The program encourages the community to read a selected book at the same time and for readers to expand their connection to the book through related arts and cultural programs.

"Equine Allure"

"Horse Sense" features more than 30 works from 15 artists and honors the strength, impact, companionship and powerful work of the horse.

Throughout "True Grit," the reader finds several examples of the symbiotic relationship between a character in the novel and his or her horse. In more than one instance, the life and well-being of each depends on the other. Horses are portrayed as the working partners of the main characters, but author Charles Portis also vividly demonstrates a pure and simple bond that cannot be ignored. One memorable example is protagonist Mattie's relationship with her horse, Little Blackie, and her relentless search for her father's murderer – and his lost horse, Judy.

A Sept. 21 reception will open with cowboy violin music, followed by a ceremony to kick off Attleboro's reading of "True Grit." Additionally, representatives from a therapeutic riding center will discuss how such riding uses the magnetic bond between people and horses to teach such skills as listening, balance, motor control, and a variety of other attributes that help people promote independence and self-confidence.

Hooshang's paintings are 30-by-40-inch acrylics on canvas.

Hooshang's abstracts, equines, florals displayed in 3 states, 4 shows

Artwork by Hooshang was on display in three states and four exhibits from Jan. 31 through mid-April, 2013, including a solo show in Bossier City, La.

* "Color Storm," which included both abstracts and equine works, was featured in 1800 Prime Steakhouse at Bossier City's Boomtown Casino from Jan. 31 through mid-April.

This new art venue is a partnership between the Bossier Arts Council and Boomtown Casino committed to promoting work of regional artists.

"Equine Energy"

* Another of Hooshang's equine works was exhibited March 2 through April 14 at the Western Spirit Art Show at the Cheyenne (Wyo.) Frontier Days Old West Museum. "Equine Energy," a 36x48-inch acrylic painting, is from Hooshang's series of running horses.

The Western Spirit show featured more than 100 artists from across the country. A special feature of opening night festivities was the Vandewark Miniature Art exhibit. Hooshang had two small abstract sets in that show.

* Two more Hooshang abstracts were part of the Masur Museum of Art's fourth annual "Off the Wall" event in Monroe, La. This silent auction of art by local and national artists was hosted by the Twin City Art Foundation on April 5. Hooshang's paintings were "Subtle Sunset" and "Color Flurry," both 8x8-inch acrylic/mixed media on canvas.

Proceeds from the fundraiser support exhibitions and educational programs at the Masur Museum.

"Window Bouquet"

* Another Hooshang painting was part of the annual "Flower Show" March 21-24 at the Attleboro (Mass.) Arts Museum. This year's theme was "Wings: Spring is in the Air."

Hooshang's work was a 14x17-inch acrylic painting, "Window Bouquet."

The show is one of the museum's largest and most anticipated annual fundraising events. Attendees come to kindle their own creativity, to support arts programming or simply to revel in the promise of spring.

Hooshang's landscapes now glow in the dark

'Bonafide!2' comes to close in Shreveport; prints remain on exhibit at Giftspace

The final day to see one of Hooshang's equine works in the "BonaFide! 2" exhibit at the Shreveport Regional Art Council's Artspace Gallery is Saturday, Jan. 5.

The show began Nov. 8 and features artists from the Northwest Louisiana Juried Roster, a group of professional artists from 10 parishes who were selected by a national arts critic based on the quality of their body of artwork and professional experience.

Hooshang's painting currently on exhibit is "Crayola Horse," a 36x48-inch acrylic on canvas.

In December, Hooshang participated in another SRAC event, "Christmas in the Sky," winner of the Special Events International Magazine's Best Gala in the World award. Christmas in the Sky is produced every other year by the arts council. This year it was billed as "Apocalypse Wow" and held Dec. 8 at Harrah's Louisiana Downs. The fundraiser included 16 auction areas, 10 stages, 12 bars, 11 themed buffets, both a live and silent auction, and costumed characters and entertainers. More than 2,000 guests from across the nation attended.

In addition, on a continual basis, Hooshang's limited-edition prints (see samples below) and small abstract paintings are on sale at Giftspace in the Artspace center at 710 Texas St. in downtown Shreveport.
